Slum Schools
Over 4 million people live in slums in Delhi, and many more in other cities. 1,700 people a day migrate to Delhi looking for work. Many of them end up in slums with inadequate provision for housing, education, sanitation and health care.
Love India, with whom we work, has established a number of small schools in slum pockets in two different areas of Delhi. Most of these schools have no more than 100 pupils, but between them they provide education, following the national curriculum, for over 3,000 children.
Not only do the children receive an education, but they are also given a meal every day.
Two of the schools are funded through The Bridge Trust Ltd, thanks to regular donations from a couple of our supporters.
Love India has also started slum schools in other cities. We have recently send funds to help with repairs to the premises used by one of them that was damaged when typhoon Fani hit the East of India.

This was made for us to show to schools in the UK. (The first half shows slum schools, and the second half shows children in the Love India Children’s Home.)
