Toilets
Many rural areas in India lack adequate toilet facilities. This not only has consequences for sanitation, but also for security. Women are at risk from assault if they have to leave their village and go out into the surrounding fields alone to go to the toilet. India has one of the highest rates of sexual violence in the world.
Bridge has supplied funding for toilets to be built in several areas through our partners in the Victory Churches of India. For around £800, a toilet block in a village can transform the lives of women, saving them time and creating a safe place. These projects also have the advantage of creating work in areas where people are very poor.
So far we have supplied enough funding for nine toilets but we are keen to build more. Please contact us if you want to contribute to the cost of a toilet block.
