Employment Training for Solwezi Women
For some time we’ve had a connection with Fomawoso, an organisation in Solwezi, Zambia. Fomowoso supports marginalised women with employment training.
This year, Fomawoso is enabling several more women to take life skills courses. These courses are run in connection with the local mine, a major employer in the area. We have now sent enough money to cover the course fees for six women, which is fantastic news!
At the end of the six-month course, there may be job opportunities at the mine, or the mine will help fund equipment for the women to set up their own businesses.
Thanks to everyone who has partnered with us, we have already been able to fund the training of other women who have gone on to employment at the mine. You can read the story of Javwa and Yuyo (pictured).
It’s wonderful to see long-term changes come from relatively short-term support in each of these women’s lives. Fund more of these course places by visiting our donation page.
